President of Big Horn Resources, Inc., Gary Kounkel, was raised on a northwest Iowa farm located south of LeMars, IA. His formal education includes a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from Iowa State University, and graduate work in the areas of business, management, development and real estate.

Continuing education has remained a priority with graduate work in management, business and real estate from UCLA, the University of California at Riverside and the University of Colorado at Boulder.
